The Philadelphia Shakespeare Festival
Internships
Internships at The
Philadelphia Shakespeare Festival are an excellent way for up-and-coming theatre
artists to gain professional experience in a learning environment. Interns will
be integrally involved in the duties of each department, working alongside The
Festivals professional staff, artists and technicians to gain real hands-on
experience in a professional classical theatre. Interns will focus in one area
of interest, but all departments overlap slightly and internships may include a
few duties from other departments. Interns in all departments should be
computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office programs.
Internships are offered in
artistic, production and administrative areas during the production season
(January-June). Administrative, Marketing, Development and Education
internships are available in non-producing months as well. All positions are
unpaid and housing is the interns responsibility. College credit may be
arranged through the interns school. Internships are offered in the areas of:
Acting
Administration
Development
Education
Marketing
All interns are expected to
work 15-20 hours per week. Directing Interns will need to be present at
all rehearsals of the production to which they have been assigned (approximately
30-35 hours per week including evenings and weekends). Please note that
all other internships require some evening and weekend hours as well.
Specific schedules will be set in conjunction with the interns supervisor. If necessary, internships can be
arranged to end earlier or later in some departments. Internships during
non-producing months can be scheduled for any time period, though a minimum
commitment of three months is requested.
Applications are accepted
throughout the year. To apply for an internship,
