Shakespeare influenced a number of playwrights whose work we now view
as classical. Their works have a mythical dimension, giving them great
scope in the profound themes they explore. The language is heightened
in these plays with complex and beautiful poetry and prose, creating
equally complex and beautiful characters. Join us for the Classical
Reading Series, as we explore the works of some of those playwrights
who were contemporaries of Shakespeare, and those whose works have been
profoundly influenced by Shakespeare.
