“Shakespeare and Sex”
Led by scholar-in-residence, Dr. Annalisa Castaldo
We all know Shakespeare’s plays are rife with dirty puns, but what about actual sex? How did sex motivate the plot and was sex (or sexual activity) ever portrayed on stage? Were there things that would have been considered unacceptable to present or even hint at? This lecture will look at a variety of plays and some sonnets, as well as provide historical context, in an exploration of the sexy side of Shakespeare.
Admission is free with advance registration. Lecture is held at The Free Library of Philadelphia (Parkway Central).
