Education Intern

The Philadelphia Shakespeare Theatre seeks an education intern to assist the Director of Education and Community Partnerships with all education programs and daily tasks. These tasks include (but are not limited to): developing curricula, coordinating school programming, fielding phone calls from local schools and teachers, reserving tickets for student matinees, and other administrative activities. This intern will have the opportunity to work directly with our Director of Education, assist in teaching artist training, workshops, and all educational programming in local Philadelphia schools. Hours are flexible. Please note that this is an unpaid position.

Development Intern

The Philadelphia Shakespeare Theatre seeks a Development Intern to work closely with the Director of Development in all aspects of fundraising and events. Activities include assisting in all fundraising activities with individual and corporate donors, planning and executing of the Opening Night Party for this season’s productions of Othello and Much Ado About Nothing, and helping to create and produce development communications materials including informational brochures and sponsorship materials for donors and prospects. The Development Intern will be an integral part of the Development team and vital to the success of the Theatre’s fundraising efforts for its plays and educational programs. We are looking for someone who likes to work in a fast-paced, fun, creative environment, and has the ability to be very detail-oriented, with excellent oral and written communication skills. This is an unpaid position that provides great experience in institutional development, fundraising, and donor relationships.

Development Director
 
 The Philadelphia Shakespeare Theatre seeks an energetic and creative Development Director to lead, inspire and assist in strategic direction and growth to its Development Department. The mission of the person holding this position is to help set and achieve the contributed income goals set forth in the budget of the Theatre. The position reports to the Artistic/Executive Director and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

1) Cultivating and nurturing board, donor, corporate and foundation relationships;

2) Assist in setting and implementing development strategy and plans, including the implementation of a development plan that articulates focused efforts to meet fundraising goals;

3) Researching, tracking and soliciting gifts from board members, individual donors, corporations and foundations;

4) Directing donor cultivation and engagement events; and

5) Managing and executing the annual giving campaigns as well as specialized fundraising efforts.

Qualifications: Candidates will have at least 3 to 5 years experience in not-for-profit theatre management/fundraising, excellent people skills in all social strata, and the requisite communication, writing, organizational, computer and database management skills. Competency in Microsoft Office is a firm requirement. Proficiency in specific donor software a plus. The successful candidate will have a track record of achievement in fundraising.
