AND, WELCOMING AKALA: FOUNDER OF THE HIP-HOP SHAKESPEARE COMPANY IN LONDONThe Philadelphia Shakespeare Theatre hosts a week of lectures, performances, and educational programming featuring London-based artist Akala, and the works of London’s Hip-Hop Shakespeare Company. Hip-hop artist and Ted X presenter Akala engages and educates young people, particularly those who are considered “hard to reach,” through his innovative workshops. With his unique brand of Shakespeare hip-hop, he will teach young people in Philadelphia to develop new skills, creating powerful new work to be performed throughout the city.
